Sun exposure

Take care of when and for how long you expose yourself to the sun's rays.
It has been shown that the main cause of melanoma - the commonest skin cancer - is the intense, intermittent sun exposure. If you spend most of your time indoors, remember that your skin is not used to sun exposure and therefore is more vulnerable.

Avoid sunburn
Always use adequate protection when exposing yourself to the sun, in particular if you are younger than 15. Children who have had sunburn or erythema are more likely to develop melanoma in adult age.
