SIES Workshop on Traslational Ematology

Ferrara, 17th-18th January 2008

On 17th-18th January 2008 in Ferrara will take place the SIES Workshop "Traslational Ematology" (Aula Magna of the University of Ferrara). The Workshop originates from a twofold necessity:

  1. speeding up the passage to the clinical area of the latest biological acquisitions, be it of a diagnostic or therapeutically innovative kind
  2. encouraging collegues who are involved in traslational ematology to continue following the path of research

The initiative promoted by SIES invites young physicians and biologists who distinguished themselves in the research area to present their study programmes, together with hemathologists of proven experience in the field of innnovative therapy.

The meeting will discuss the following three topics:

  1. Myeloproliferative syndromes
  2. Non Hodgkin lymphomas
  3. Infection diagnosis and therapy

During the first part of each session some research projects will be presented. They will be introduced by experts in the corresponding topic. Projects which are to be presented during the plenary session will be selected among the submitted proposals by the congress' scientific commitee, who will examine the proposal's originality, feasibility, relevance and quality as well as the candidate's resumé. The best projects, in the scientific committe's judgement, presented at the workshop will be awarded a scholarship consisting in € 15.000 gross.

The second part of each session will be focused on progress in diagnosis and therapy, with special attentino to biological medicine.
