Report on stomach tumour
Since 1985 a Registry of Tumours is active for the population of Florence and Prato province, which is dedicated to register each case on a mophological and organ basis.
Since 2004 the survey has been extended to the whole region of Tuscany.
A Regional Mortality Registry is also active since 1987 (for the provinces of Florence and Prato since 1985), elaborating statistics on the causes of death in all the region of Tuscany.
The report on mortality and incidence of stomach tumour in Tuscany (1971/2004) is born with the following goals:
- Research study on geographical and temporal differences in mortality due to gastric tumours in Tuscany, based on data from the Regional Registry of Mortality (RMR) and ISTAT
- Examining temporal tendency of the tumour's incidence and mortality in the provinces of Florence and Prato, where incidence surveys are active since 1985 by The Tuscan Registry of Tumours (RTT);
- Presenting a synthesis of current knowledge of the tumour's etiology
