Gianni Amunni
He was born in San Giovanni Valdarno (Florence) on August 6th 1954 and graduated from the University of Florence Medical School in October 1979. He specialized in Gynaecology and Obstetrics in 1983 at the same university.
In 1986 he completed his Oncology Specialty at the University of Modena. Immediately after graduation he started working with the Oncology Unit of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of the University of Florence, in collaboration with the Chemotherapy Unit of the same University, his focus of interest being cancer treatment. In 1990 he qualified as Registrar at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department.
In Novembre 1992 he was appointed Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Florence where he was confirmed as Professor in November 1995.
He is currently Director of the Medical and Oncological Gynaecology Unit of the Department of Gynaecology, Perinatology and Human Reproduction.
He is the Head of the Regional Referral Centre for Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasms and Coordinator of the National Registry of Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasms at the Careggi Hospital Trust.
He is the Coordinator of the Departmental Oncology Referral Centre of the Careggi Hospital Trust.
He is a member of the National and Regional Oncology Commissions.
He is the Secretary of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Specialty School of Florence University.
He is Professor of Gynaecology for the University Diploma in Midwifery.
He regularly teaches in the Medicine and Surgery Degree Course, in particular oncology-related subjects.
He is Professor of Gynaecology and Obstetrics and teaches Medical Oncology at the Clinical Oncology Course within the Medicine and Surgey Degree Course.
He is Professor of Medical Oncology and Chemotherapy (Gynaecological Oncology) at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialty School in Florence.
He teaches at the Oncology Specialty School and at the Radiotherapy Specialty School of Florence University.
He is a member of the Editorial Board of the journals "Rivista di Ostetricia e Ginecologia" and "Salute e Territorio".
He sits on the Board of the Italian Society of Gynaecological Oncology and of the National Association of University Gynaecologists.
He is the author of over 160 papers and has been invited as a speaker on oncology-related issues to national and international conferences.
He is the Representative of the Medical School in the Coordination Group of the Florence Health District.
He sits on the Board of the University of Florence.
He is the Operating Director of the Tumour Institute of Tuscany.
