How to get around
Outpatient Clinics are the access points to the services provided by the Tumour Institute of Tuscany.
The Institute of Tumours of Tuscany comprises the Centre for the Study and Prevention of Tumours (CSPO) and 16 Oncology departments, one for each Local Health Authorithy and Teaching Hospital Trust (see "The ITT in the community")
Each Department has one or more Outpatient clinics, so that you may access the Institute through the Outpatient Clinic which is closest to the area you live in.
If your General practitioner deems it necessary, he/she can refer you to the closest Outpatient clinic for a multidisciplinary examination free of charge.
In each Outpatient clinic a doctor is in charge of assessing your situation with the support of other healthcare professionals, and of defining your diagnostic work-up. The Outpatient clinic staff will book for you all the required diagnostic examinations and tests.
You can also receive information on the public and private authorized healthcare centres available in Tuscany and throughout Italy.
If you are diagnosed with a tumour, all the examinations and tests included in your treatment plan will be free of charge.
